Tools for Discussing Race & Equity AprilApr 22 2024 01:00pm - 02:30pm America/Detroit

In this session, Aslam Bulbulia will present frameworks for thinking about how our bodies and group dynamics shift when conflict emerges. Many of us shy away from the difficult conversations we need to have and the result is deep fractures and polarization internally, interpersonally, within our teams, families and communities. Being prepared to notice the early signs of conflict and having shared language to talk about it enables us to create psychological safety and lean into these conversations early in order to find shared understanding, create empathy and make decisions that move us forward together. In this session the frameworks will be used to talk about race but are also applicable to other topics that bring an emotional charge.

This virtual space is designed to help us connect across the land that we are currently calling Canada. Our members are standing on different parts of this land that many Indigenous peoples have been taking care of for millennia before settlers arrived. We acknowledge the injustices that have been committed in the past and the harms that continue. We are committed to learning, sharing knowledge, and working towards a just future through building respectful relationships between established or recent settlers and the first nations of what we now call Canada.
