Race, Disability, and Migration: Creating Welcoming Communities (Session 2) OctoberOct 10 2024 12:00am - 12:00pm America/Toronto

Due to strong interest generated in our first session, we are excited to announce a second session of our discussion on the intersection of race, disability, and migration! How are ableism and racism interconnected, and how do immigrants and refugees with disabilities experience disempowerment due to institutionalized ableism? Join us to explore these important questions and learn why prioritizing anti-ableism is essential within anti-racist initiatives at Local Immigration Partnerships. We'll provide concrete strategies to integrate anti-ableism into your anti-racism efforts and discuss how LIPs can support member agencies in creating accessible services and welcoming communities for everyone

This virtual space is designed to help us connect across the land that we are currently calling Canada. Our members are standing on different parts of this land that many Indigenous peoples have been taking care of for millennia before settlers arrived. We acknowledge the injustices that have been committed in the past and the harms that continue. We are committed to learning, sharing knowledge, and working towards a just future through building respectful relationships between established or recent settlers and the first nations of what we now call Canada.
