Employment Resource Guide (ERG) (2023)

This first-of-its-kind guide in Canada lays out the steps required to obtain professional employment in Saskatchewan's 73 regulated professions. It was borne out of an Immigrant Employment Research project (Also available on this site) that uncovered the need for newcomers to have a cohesive source for this information. Prior to the guide, newcomers had to seek information on becoming employed in the regulated professions from a wide variety of sources, and formulate their own action plans, adding to their already busy settlement schedules. This book lays out the steps in one or two pages per profession, making the process much easier for newcomers and in many cases, their Settlement agency case workers who assist them with the employment process. Currently in use provincially among Settlement Agencies, Schools, Libraries, and the Chamber of Commerce, this guide provides a one-stop resource for those seeking employment in the regulated professions. The guide has been well received within the province and nationally when we have given presentations about it at conferences. The Calgary LIP (CLIP) was inspired by our guide and created their own based on ours. Other LIPs are currently working on their own versions.

This virtual space is designed to help us connect across the land that we are currently calling Canada. Our members are standing on different parts of this land that many Indigenous peoples have been taking care of for millennia before settlers arrived. We acknowledge the injustices that have been committed in the past and the harms that continue. We are committed to learning, sharing knowledge, and working towards a just future through building respectful relationships between established or recent settlers and the first nations of what we now call Canada.
